Offshore jack-up drilling rigs and semi-submersible assets

OFFSHORE JACK-UP DRILLING RIGS AND SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE ASSETS

About the application of InTank™ on offshore jack-up drilling rigs

Marship Engineering and principal partner Scienco®/FAST InTank™ have been involved in the turn-key supply of the ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) for a series of jack-up drilling rigs as well as semi-submersible offshore assets.

The InTank™ BWTS fits well with the operational profile as treatment is not required during in place flood & discharge activities. The InVoyage treatment solution allows for treatment of the volumes inside the transit tanks only. Another advantage is high flexibility on timing of treatment start, preferably just before discharge and effectively reducing, avoiding long hold period and associated regrowth issues to a minimum. InTank™ supports treatment of a single, a group or all tanks. Filterless, the hardware is simpler to install and has a small footprint in comparison to pre-filtering InLine solutions. Last but not least, the bulk chemical version has no restrictions or limitations and is suitable for all water qualities (clean, turbid & muddy).

Below the typical specification outline for offshore jack-up drilling rigs as well as semi sub offshore assets;

  • Number of water ballast tanks: 18 to 2o
  • Water ballast volumes in place: 6.000 m³
  • Number of ballast pumps: 2
  • Flow rate (per pump): Avg. 500 m³/hour
  • Transit water ballast volumes: 3.000 m³
